Before you start

A few useful answers.

What GuidedForms helps with, and what stays in your hands.

Is GuidedForms part of USCIS?

No. GuidedForms is an independent paperwork tool. We fill and check the official USCIS forms, but we aren’t a government agency or a law firm, and we aren’t affiliated with USCIS.

What is PacketCheck?

PacketCheck is the form-checking tool from GuidedForms. It checks supported forms for missing answers and inconsistent details, and highlights answers it could not read clearly. You review every page and handle signatures and filing.

Will GuidedForms file my forms for me?

No. You review your filled form, sign it in ink and send it to USCIS yourself.

Is it really free?

Yes, during the beta. Planning, filling and checking forms costs nothing right now, and you don’t need an account to begin.

Can it tell me whether I’m eligible?

No. The planner lists forms that may apply to your family, but whether you qualify is a legal question. Our legal-help page points you to attorneys and accredited representatives.

Can I answer questions in another language?

Yes. The questions and help are in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic. The official form itself stays in English.

Can I try it without sharing documents?

Yes. You can type every answer yourself, and the sample check uses a made-up form, so you can see how a check works before you upload anything.

Can I use my information on another form?

Yes. Save a person’s profile to your account, then apply supported identity, contact, and address details to other forms. You review what gets reused and answer the questions specific to each application.
